Advanced metering/smart grid systems can be used to deliver new information-based services to customers. At the same time, a wide variety of technologies and potential new market entrants are emerging in attempts to capture value associated with these services. What are the possible services, and what are the associated business models? IEE and EEI members engaged in a fruitful discussion on the future business models that address the customer side of the meter.
