Institute for Electric Efficiency Briefing:
Midwest Utilities Ramp Up Energy Efficiency
The Institute for Electric Efficiency held its first regional energy efficiency briefing, focusing on the ramp-up of energy efficiency efforts, commitments, and expenditures by Midwestern utilities on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago.
As part of the event, six utilities (Ameren, Integrys, ComEd, DTE, Duke, and MidAmerican) plus Ford Motor Company exhibited their technologies and programs aimed at engaging customers in intelligent energy management.
The exhibits were preceded by a panel discussion highlighting the important role of energy efficiency in the Midwest, which featured Commonwealth Edison President and COO Anne Pramaggiore; Detroit Edison President and COO Steve Kurmas; William Allemon, Manager, Energy Efficiency, Ford Motor Company; Commissioner Monica Martinez of the Michigan Public Service Commission; and Duke Energy VP of Marketing and Energy Efficiency, Ted Schultz.
Guests also heard remarks from DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency Kathleen Hogan, Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance Executive Director Wendy Jaehn, and Joshua Milberg, First Deputy Commissioner, City of Chicago Department of Environment.
